Little Amie at Bar Vlaha
Thursday evening at Bar Vlaha was nothing short of amazing. What a wonderful night filled with great conversation, drinks and food. What I love most about these dinners is the way every woman shows up— with an open mind, zero judgements, and ready to get to know every single lady who sits down at the table. We are all here for the same reason and that shared purpose creates a uniquely safe and welcoming space. You'd think sitting down to dinner with strangers would be uncomfortable but this is the opposite.
At the table on Thursday was a robust group of interesting and inspiring ladies. Everyone from an entrepreneur who slangs delicious shortbread cookies to a principal who reads tarot on the side, all the way to a martini and french fry connoisseur who is currently building out the world's most scientific spreadsheet ranking the best places to obtain such delicious treats (stay tuned for a Martini and fry crawl) and more.
I love the way everyone cares about the food— talking about each dish, not obnoxiously but in a way someone would who eats with intention. There's an underlying appreciation Amie ladies have for this craft— food and beverage do not just magically appear but are a product of many people caring. From the farmer who nurtures the land to grow and raise our food, all the way to the chef who crafts the dish, and to the cook who executes it. What we eat is a result of many people putting in their time, knowledge, thought and effort to make it happen.
January Little Amie is all about setting personal goals and making wishes. The inspiration came from the Spanish/Italian tradition of eating 12 grapes with each stroke of the clock at midnight on New Year's Eve. So of course I brought 12 grapes for each lady to make a wish or set a goal with. I loved hearing everyone's goals for the new year and I can't wait to hear how you smash them!
We connected, numbers were exchanged, plans were made, and some ladies even stayed late for tarot readings— I am SO bummed I missed this. Jess Cronin can we please get a tarot dinner on the calendar?!
All of this to say, what an amazing second Little Amie dinner. As Mrunmayee Gujar said— it was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful and important it is to be in rooms rooted in connection and intention. This night truly made me feel like we're onto something here, and this community we are building is not only amazing– but so important!
Thank you, mes amies! I can't wait for our next dinner!!
